This award recognises the most effective use of a digital platform to engage, inform, and support audiences in the construction and built environment sector. The platform may be public-facing or created for a specific audience such as customers, specifiers, installers, or internal teams.

 

How entries are judged

Entries in this category are assessed against five equally weighted criteria. Each criterion is scored out of 10, giving a total maximum score of 50.

Judges will award marks based on:

  • Clear objectives (10 points)
    Evidence of well-defined objectives and a clear purpose aligned with wider marketing or business goals
  • Audience (10 points)
    Understanding of the target audience and how the platform meets their needs
  • Innovative and creative (10 points)
    The extent to which the platform demonstrates innovation, creativity, or originality in its approach
  • Cost effective (10 points)
    Efficient use of budget and resources, demonstrating value for money
  • Measurably achieved (10 points)
    Evidence that objectives have been met through measurable outcomes

What to include in your entry

Entries should clearly address each of the following areas, which form the basis of judging:

Clear objectives
• Defined a clear purpose for the platform aligned with marketing or business objectives
• Demonstrated how the platform supports wider strategic goals

Audience
• Identified and understood the target audience, such as customers, specifiers, installers, or internal teams
• Designed the platform to meet user needs, ensuring it is accessible, intuitive, and relevant

Innovative and creative
• Delivered an engaging, user-friendly experience
• Demonstrated innovation in design, functionality, or content
• Used digital tools or technologies in a distinctive or effective way

Cost effective
• Demonstrated efficient use of budget and resources
• Delivered strong value relative to investment

Measurably achieved
• Provided clear evidence of outcomes such as engagement, lead generation, specification, or conversion
• Used data, insights, or performance metrics to demonstrate success and inform ongoing improvements

Industry-specific examples might include:

  • A product selector or specification tool tailored for architects or specifiers
  • A customer portal for merchants or installers with technical support, training, or loyalty tools
  • A CPD or knowledge hub offering thought leadership, BIM downloads, or regulatory guidance
  • A platform supporting tenant engagement or community consultation for housing or regeneration projects
  • An internal digital platform enabling communication and collaboration across project or site teams

Judges will be looking for platforms that combine technical quality with marketing impact — delivering genuine value to users while supporting wider business objectives through effective and innovative digital delivery.
